So, apparently comments haven’t been working on the blog since sometime in April. Which is awesome, as I’m sure I’ve lost some readers now. AWESOME. I wondered why I suddenly had zero people leaving happy little messages from time to time. I figured those folks who were reading just didn’t see anything worth talking about. [...]

Hello from Edinburgh!
September 24, 2005
Scotland is beautiful#–castles, cultre, art, music… it’s been a blast. Tonight I will be seeing Shakespeare at the Lyceum Theatre (As You Like It) and I am very excited. So far, my favorite thing has been touring Edinburgh Castle. I’ll have a lot of photos for Flickr when I get back, and I can’t wait [...]
Ozark Mile: First Act +
August 13, 2005
For anyone who wants a quick read… here’s the first act of Ozark Mile, plus a little bit. I’m only going to leave this live for a few days… [update: I've deleted the html file... sorry! Contact me if you want to have a read]
Nora Ephron is the Queen
August 13, 2005
This week I watched When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail. I’m not going to get into the semantics of how similar they are, structure, blah, blah, blah… but how great is the dialogue? That’s the part that’s the hardest to nail#–characters speaking in an original voice, and saying something you not only identify [...]
It's finished!
August 6, 2005
After a marathon of action/description editing (including a detour into ellipses removal) from 6:30AM until right now… 12:38PM, Ozark Mile (the rewrite) is finished. Finito. Put a fork in it cause it’s DONE. Woo hoo! Now there are a lucky few out there who I will be contacting, begging to read and give me criticism… [...]
Ozark Mile: Rewrite Finished
July 31, 2005
The page-one rewrite of Ozark Mile is finished. This is now the "new" first draft. It’s rewrite time! On the second draft, I’ll be adjusting scene lengths, balancing dialogue, and checking for character consistency.
July 4th in MO
July 7, 2005
I’m currently (sort of) in Missouri, visiting family for the 4th of July. But I’m also working… auditioning in Memphis this week. I don’t want to jinx myself, or talk out of turn, so I’m not going to go into detail#–but look at the rewrite progress bar! Ozark Mile is coming along! If it weren’t [...]
Ozark Mile: First Act
June 27, 2005
I finished the major overhaul of Ozark Mile and now I’m in the touch-up phase. Act I is about as good as it’s going to get#–I like it, it makes me giggle, and I’m not afraid to show it to people. I couldn’t really ask for more than that. As with most screenwriters, my issues [...]
Screenplay pages written: Zero
June 23, 2005
Books read: Two. Both good books, glad I read them too#–I now have a good idea what’s been bothering me in Ozark Mile. I won’t really go into detail except to say that I have the wrong character "petting the dog". If you’ve read Lew Hunter’s Screenwriting 434 then you know what I’m talking about. [...]
(Mostly) Automatic HTML Screenplay
June 19, 2005
Since I had to spend Father’s Day away from my dad(s), I occupied my time with this little conundrum: How to export a Movie Magic Screenlpay and post it into WordPress without having to type in all of the elements? The result is a handy-dandy combo of tools I have collected here. The included files [...]
