About
“Mr. Coleman delivers with easy comic timing.”
—The New York Times“Coleman gives an effortless performance that reeks of machismo-laden inertia.”
—Off Off Online“A handsome, magnetic presence, dominating the stage whenever he appeared.”
—Off Off Broadway Review
I was raised by a Doctor, an Artist,
and a retired member of a Top-Secret Special Forces team.
In the third grade, when presenting a report on “What I Want to Be When I Grow Up”, I gave a dissertation on the finer points of being a Jack-of-All-Trades. That childhood curiosity led me to work as a Quilt Salesman, a Database Engineer, a Carpenter, and a Stuntman (amongst other things).
Growing up in Missouri, I rode horses, went to the library, built and destroyed countless inventions in the name of fun, fished the James river, and shot skeet in the backwoods (but I was never much of a hunter).
I play charming, intelligent anti-heros
who lead by necessity–flaws and all.
I enrolled in college at the age of thirteen, applied for a position as legendary oceanographer Robert Ballard’s research assistant at fourteen (I didn’t get the job, but he did write me back), and found a love for performing somewhere around the same time.
One of my favorite memories is touring Europe in a marching band, playing the Baritone Horn (and then breaking my ankle while hiking the Jungfrau in Switzerland).
I have a burning desire to try new things… if there’s something odd on a menu, I feel compelled to order it.
It would be impossible to describe myself as any one thing.
But I am not the Walrus.
I promise.
