Tonight was opening night for the Christmas Project for New York Theater Experiment… I’ll post all about it tomorrow (I’m too tired tonight).
I do, however, need some help with picking my new headshots. On Saturday, I went in to Dave Cross Photography and sat for a headshot session#–all part of my planned attack on pilot season here in NYC. The session yielded a lot of options, and now I would like a little help in deciding which two photos to start with in getting printed. I can always go back and print something else, but I need to pick two shots that I can start sending out as 1) a "serious" look for Soaps, Film, and Theatre and 2) a "commercial" look for Commercials and Sitcoms. Ive narrowed the choices with some help from friends and family, but now I need to narrow some more. So help me out already! Head over to Flickr and tell me what you think of the following:
Please make note of the best/worst and comment here (or on Flickr, although it’s more fun here). You can even check back on this post to argue/discuss your views. Thanks!

Hey there,
Okay, here are my thoughts. Overall – nice shots. They’re clear with good coloring and you look good.
I’m personally trying steering away from seeing them as “commercial” and “dramatic” shots because these days the line are so blurred. Commercials can be like little dramas and so forth. I’ve sent my “dramatic” shots for commercials and vice versa.
From the dramatic category, I like #92 the best.
However, I like some of the shots in the commercial section much better. I would personally use #31 for most everything. It’s opened and relaxed and pretty real.
I like #37 a lot, almost as much as 31. I would suggest taking out a bit of the light reflection out of the eye on the right. Because there’s so much light, it stands out a bit too much. Perhaps add a bit of extra lash at the top to close the eye just a smidge.
#12 is interesting and I like the “rumpled” quality. If you feel that’s you, that’s also a nice shot.
I’ve got a bunch of new shots and am having two printed up but will be using most of the others on the online submission sites because they show different parts of me more clearly. If I find that one is getting a lot of interest, I’ll get that printed up as well.
Hope that helps and congrats on the new shots! An exciting day for any actor!
Thanks Trevor… I appreciate the advice. It is exciting to get new headshots made… it means new opportunities and new possibilities. After all, someone might see you in a totally new light.
I am no expert at this, but in the serious category my eyes always seemed to fall on #87. It seemed just a bit more dramatic. I prefer the black shirt over the blue. In the commercial category I like #31, very down to earth. #12 was more comedic. They were all very nice. Good luck choosing!
